This week we are fortunate to have Mark Briais return to our midst. He is one of those cool cats that can proudly say they were there in the beginning, shaping the direction of dance music in Brisbane.
With one of the longest resumes in the city it would be impossible to list all his achievements in this small space. we can assure you though he has been around the block and back, most recently in venues like Empire, Family, and Barsoma. His experience on the setup has been called on to provide an appropriate and skillful introduction to many touring international djs. And as an international DJ in his own right, is one of the few Brisbanites to play the original Sundae party in Philadelphia. Mark’s knowledgeable and friendly outlook has helped hundreds of people each week find both exciting new and quality rare tunes, whether in the club, or the Rockinghorse Records vinyl bunker, where he operated the counter for many years, heavily influencing the emerging sound of Brisbane.
A longtime friend of Sundae, Mark recently took time out to craft a limited edition release (a progeny in his own image – cute!), though we can’t keep him from sharing his extensive musical knowledge, and he returns to the party for an all vinyl set. After so many years unpacking the imported 12″s that many a Brisbane DJ has fought over, we know this will be a huge day for music lovers, sun lovers, and lovers in general. Everyone will want to get down. Don’t miss it!
